What are you lot doing this weekend ? I’m going to spend it getting ready for my camping trip to the north shore of Lake Superior next week.
My buddy’s ‘89 560SL. The stain on the driveway is from my dad’s friend’s S600. His ABC pump decided to delete itself last week.

Dat 560. One of my friends has a black one. Just wish they had the square headlights.
How’s your V12 beast doing?

I’m on my way back from the mountains of NC, after a nice, spirited drive.

She’s running great right now. I figured out my wheels aren’t actually staggered so I need to buy two new rear wheels, but I might just get a full set because mine look like hell. It was pretty popular at cars and coffee last weekend and I got to drive it fairly quickly while leaving. I'd really love do give her a Renntech treatment. How's the SL600 running?

Nice. Sadly I'm going to drive my Lexus to the north shore instead of the Benz because id rather not park the S under a tree for a week. No spirited driving for me...

Working 7-7 today. Going home and installing some new 8 inch flex duct and grilles. Tomorrow, watch racing, dog park, weekly drive in the Z4, eat cookies (duh), and rest for another 6 day 7-7 work week... forever.... until I die :]

I’m convinced that even servicing ABC every 30,000 miles wouldn’t save the pump at this point. I thought your dad’s friend’s M137 mistake at least had low mileage.

Out here it’s not too expensive to get wheels re-finished. There’s a somewhat local place that will be able to do this for me too. About $600 for the full set to be re-finished ($600 would get me one of my wheels replaced).
The SL is doing okay. The ADS system is fighting back right now, but by early next week it should be fine. The high pressure line that goes to the distributor is leaking (20 years can do that), so I’m just waiting for that part to get put in. I had to work pretty closely with the shop as well because the freakin beast is complicated to people who aren’t quite used to dealing with over-engineered German monstrosities. Otherwise, new brake bads front and rear, the accumulators were done over the winter, so she’s in pretty good shape overall.
There’s some rust along the heat shields of the exhaust, so I may look to replace it if I can. I’ll have to take a day to drop the whole exhaust and see what the extent really is. 116k and still runs great though. While it was on the lift a couple days ago I got a real good look all the way up to where the block meets the heads, and the block is super clean. So tightly packed that shit can’t get up there if it tried. The head gaskets are ever so slightly weepy, but no drips or anything concerning. I doubt I’ll touch it for at least another couple of years. Bushings are next, but as long as the ADS is working, until the bushings start to creak, it’s going to stay as-is. Car had a really rough start on the lift checking for leaks, but the motor mounts may be a future project before anything else. I really want to send it to a paint shop for touchup, but that just keeps getting pushed back longer and longer.
That and I need to price out an XPel wrap. Not just the nose, the entire car. There’s also a windshield protector I want to put on. Car is on it’s second windshield, and I don’t want to go for a third. That and I’ll need tires next year...you know, money in, money out.

I love the R107. I have this dream of shaving the bumpers off of one so it doesn’t have those ass warts and buck teeth ruining the lines.
Sadly, I’m moving and have to get rid of my 450SL and the parts car (which I hoped to remove the bumpers from since it’s mostly rusted anyway.)

Yeah, I’m going to need tires fairly soon. A piece of wood trim broke off 10 minutes ago so that needs doing now. I did accumulators in the spring and I don’t really have anything major planned for another 45000 miles. Obviously ABC will try to burn my wallet before then, but barring my B service I'm good for a bit.

Well, mine went at about 120,000. His went at 110,000. Good, we’re narrowing down the failure time frame for others!

Whats your B service? I just schedule my fluids by mileage and then have an idea of the major services that I need to keep track of. I only have ADS seals that can bite my wallet, but considering the condition the car is in, I dont think it will get me. Ive done everything else around it, so I think Ill be fine.
